Mission: Official control, monitoring and surveillance of radioactivity and applied research in Food, Water, Air and Terrestrial and Marine Environment.
Objective: The protection of public health and vulnerable groups from ionizing radiation and the creation of a database for future use in case of a nuclear accident or a radiological emergency incidence.
Research Services provided:

o The control programme includes determination of γ - radionuclides in food and environmental samples (mixed diet, milk, drinking water, airborne particulates from the atmosphere, algae, sea sediments and beach sand using Gamma Spectrometry Systems (HPGe Detectors), total α/β radiation in water intended for human consumption, total β - radiation on filters low volume carrying airborne particulates from the atmosphere, Sr-90 in milk, Uranium radioisotopes (U-238, U-235, U-234) in drinking water using Alpha Spectrometry System (Passivated Implanted Planar Silicon Detectors).

o (HPGe Detectors), alpha/beta low level gas proportional counter (GPC), Alpha Spectrometry System (Passivated Implanted Planar Silicon Detectors), Liquid scintillator counter.
